WVU Basketball is in the process of flipping its roster for the 2024-25 season under first year head coach Darian DeVries. Let’s take a look at where West Virginia ranks in the country in regards to its transfer class.
On 247, West Virginia is behind Arkansas, Indiana and St. John’s while On3 has the Mountaineers just behind Louisville. DeVries and his staff have put together a class of six transfers so far, highlighted by Tucker DeVries (Drake) and Javon Small (Oklahoma State). The Portal Report ranks DeVries the No. 1 overall transfer and Small in the top 30.

West Virginia’s staff now has nine scholarship players with the other three being Ofri Naveh (returning), KJ Tenner (2024 guard) and Jonathan Powell (2024 guard). The Mountaineers can use up to four more scholarship spots during the offseason.
In 2023, West Virginia ranked second in transfer class rankings and 20th in 2022, according to 247 Sports.
