Braves promote familiar face to active roster for doubleheader
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

The Braves kick off a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies today with a doubleheader. It was unknown who was going to pitch both games, with some even speculating that Kyle Wright may make his return. However, that has been put on hold for the time being. Prior to the start of Game 1, the Braves announced a roster move, adding a familiar face in Jackson Stephens back to the active roster.

It looks like the Braves will go with a bullpen game in the second half of the doubleheader.

Stephens was a critical piece to the Braves bullpen last season, posting a 3.69 ERA over 39 appearances, which led to the team signing him to a split contract this offseason. Stephens has dealt with some injuries this season, limiting him to just 18 games on the farm, but he’s pitched well, boasting a 2.70 ERA over 33.1 innings. He’s a guy that can go multiple innings, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw him in Game 2, perhaps even as an opener.
