Dolphins Running Back Sends Major Warning To Rest Of NFL
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins had one of the top rushing attacks in football this past season, and much of that was due to the explosiveness of De’Von Achane.

Achane was actually the Dolphins’ No. 2 running back behind Raheem Mostert, but he was still electrifying, rushing for 800 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging an incredible 7.8 yards per carry in 11 games. He also caught 27 passes for 197 yards and three scores.

Now, the second-year back is warning the rest of the NFL that he is about to do even bigger things in 2024.

Achane, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M, was selected by Miami in the third round of the NFL Draft last spring.

He got off to a monster start during his rookie campaign, racking up 455 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns between Weeks 2 and 4. Injuries then sidelined Achane for four straight games, and when he returned in Week 11, he carried the ball just one time before sitting out the following week again.

The 22-year-old finally got healthy for the final six games of the season, but he was much less effective during that span, logging just one 100-yard outing throughout that time.

But there is no doubting Achane’s explosiveness, and the Dolphins’ two-headed monster of Mostert and Achane in the backfield will certainly strike fear into the hearts of opposing defenses next season.

Miami had the top-ranked offense in the NFL in 2023, although the team sputtered down the stretch and ultimately coughed up a three-game lead in the AFC East.

The good news for the Dolphins is that the Buffalo Bills saw a mass exodus of some of their top players this offseason, so the door is certainly open for Miami to take the division title.

We’ll see if Achane and Co. can take that next step come September.
