Malick Thiaw hasn’t had a great season because of multiple injuries, but that hasn’t dissuaded prestigious suitors, as he’s reportedly being tracked by Real Madrid. The two sides will be in contact to discuss multiple deals in the coming months.

According to Bild (via MSN), Los Blancos have shown interest in the German center-back to replace Nacho Fernandez. The Rossoneri paid €8.8M to purchase him from Schalke 04 in 2022. His value has at least tripled since.

Thiaw is under contract with Milan until 2027, which have a lot of leverage in the potential talks with Real Madrid. The center-back has racked up 50 appearances during his time in Italy. He starred 26 times this campaign. He has missed three months due to a severe thigh injury and has been dealing with plantar fasciitis as of late.

The 22-year-old has three caps with Germany but wasn’t called up in the two most recent international breaks.

Our Take on Milan, Thiaw, and Real Madrid

The Rossoneri are in a tricky spot in the back as, if they wished to, they could stand pat and be fine numerically. However, two of their top options, he and Pierre Kalulu, have been a little too injury-prone and haven’t progressed as expected. They could simply opt to be patient since they are both young. On the other hand, there’s a solid chance they’ll take a robust offer for one of two and seek a readier and more reliable defender.
