Injured centre back Malick Thiaw is continuing his recovery programme at Milan and is expected to return to squad training next week.

The 22-year-old German defender hasn’t made an appearance for the Rossoneri since their 1-0 win over Fiorentina at the end of November, suffering a hamstring muscle injury. The issue has forced him to miss the team’s last 13 consecutive games across all competitions.

Thiaw’s injury coincided with problems for Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, leaving Milan without their first-choice defenders for the last few months. Stefano Pioli is hoping to recover all three centre backs by the end of the month.

As reported by MilanNews, Thiaw is continuing his individual work at Milanello, quietly working on his recovery as he pushes to return to Pioli’s squad. He is expected to join his teammates in training next week, but is still a little while away from returning to action.

The 22-year-old is unlikely to be available for the games with Rennes or Monza, needing to build up his match fitness, but could be part of the squad for the clash with Atalanta on February 25th.
